Lucille Price Cowand, 66, of the 200 block of Old Merry Hill Road died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 1997, in Pitt Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Prince George County, Va., and was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Cowand was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Price, and her brothers, Leslie and Herman Price.
Survivors include her husband, George C. ``Duck'' Cowand; daughter, Mary Francis Cowand Griffin of Edenton; son, George Clay Cowand Jr. of Merry Hill; sister, Elizabeth ``Libby'' Peele of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C.; brother, Eugene ``Red'' Price of Windsor; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Merry Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph Knight and the Rev. Wint Hale. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor.
The family will receive friends in their home. Memorials may be made to the Merry Hill Baptist Church, 402 Old Merry Hill Road, Merry Hill, N.C. 27957 or to the Merry Hill Midway Fire Department, 109 N.C. 45 North, Merry Hill, N.C. 27957. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.
