Martha Jean John Marler, 72, died Thursday Jan. 23, 1997, in Sun City Center, Fla.
Born in Shelbyville, Ind., she graduated from Morristown High School. She attended both The College of William and Mary and Texas Christian University. When her husband transferred to the V.A. Medical Center in Indianapolis, she became a programmer and systems analyst for the U.S. Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, where she retired in 1984. Martha was an active member of Northwood Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship.
She is survived by her husband, Chaplain David W. Marler, former chief of chaplain service of Indianapolis V.A. Medical Center; daughters, Beth Keeney of Fayetteville, N.C., Jean Harrington of Virginia Beach, Jackie Wall of Indianapolis, Terri Loudermilk of Atlanta, Karen Denton of Virginia Beach; sons, Bill Marler of Indianapolis, Gary Marler of Charlotte, N.C.; 19 grandchildren; a sister; and five brothers.
The funeral service was held Jan. 27 in Northwood Christian Church, Indianapolis. Leppert and Hurt Mortuary Crematory Inc., Indianapolis, handled arrangements.
