RUFUS W. BROWN

Rufus W. ``Ham'' Brown, 76, of the 300 block of Poplar Ave., died Jan. 29, 1997, in Williamsburg.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Emma L. Brown; four daughters, Diane Jones of Columbus, Ga., Verdar May of San Diego, Gail Brown of Norfolk and Emma Tyre of Phenix City, Ala.; sister, Ruth Joyner of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Clarence, Verdonda, Adrena, Da'Sherra; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Rufus W. Brown.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Zion Baptist Church, 900 Middlesex St., Bell Diamond, Norfolk, by Dr. Charles Hart. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Monday. Family and friends will assemble at 308 Poplar Ave., Norfolk, at noon Monday for the funeral procession to the church.
