William Palmer ``OOP'' Ward, 80, of the 900 block of Riverside Ave., died Friday, Jan. 31, 1997.
He was a native of Pasquotank County, N.C., and a former owner and president of Ward and Son Inc. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, The Pine Lakes Country Club, The Mothers' Brothers's Golf Group, a former Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a member of the World War II Glider Pilot's Association.
Mr. Ward was the son of the late Clifton E. and Daisy Palmer Ward and the husband of Marjorie Shiddell Ward of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. Ward is survived by a son, Jack C. Ward of Elizabeth City; a sister, Jean W. Parker of Elizabeth City; and three grandchildren, Kari and John Ward and Dawn W. Trueblood, all of Elizabeth City.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Old Hollywood Cemetery by the Rev. Renfro Sproul. The family requests that memorial donations be made to C.O.A Scholarship Fund. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is handling arrangements.
