Mario Rivera, 83, a native of New York, died Jan. 30, 1997, in a Norfolk hospital.
Born in Santa Isabelle, Puerto Rico, he was a Catholic. Mr. Rivera retired as a clerk of the U.S. Postal Service with 37 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen Rivera; two daughters, Anna E. Rivera of Puerto Rico, Yvonne Ramos and her husband, Roland Ramos Jr. of Virginia Beach; a son, Mario Rivera Jr. of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Colonial Grove Memorial Park by Father Daniel Klem. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
