HATTIE R. DALTON

On Jan. 31, 1997, Mrs. Hattie Richey Dalton of the 7400 block of Hughart St. graduated from this earth at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

``Miss Hattie B'' was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Richey and was a graduate of the Polytechnic School of Home Nursing in Baltimore. She served in this capacity even while seriously ill for over 30 years until she expired.

Those who knew her knew she was a great admirer of the late President John F. Kennedy and was tragically traumatized by his assassination. Even though she never met this great president, she was pleased that her daughter did have the opportunity to meet him and sing in the great St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York City.

She is survived by a devoted companion, Harry Leroy Thomas; a daughter, Ms. Barbara Richey Morse; a granddaughter, Miss Monica Rene Morse; three godsons, Linwood and Carl Rodgers and Lee E. Dial; and god-grandchildren, Ron and Betty Rosenberg of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Annie L. Brooks; a god-brother, Troy Hinton; a cousin, Earl Gardner; a great-nephew, Michael Hall; god-sisters, Mrs. Mary Dandridge of Norfolk and Mrs. Birdie Ferguson of Florida. In addition, she is survived by her devoted and supportive friends, Robert and Doris Wright, Adline Battle and the Rev. Dr. A.M. Lawson, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at Virginia Beach Baptist Church, 2301 Newstead Drive, Virginia Beach, at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral will be at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 934 W. Little Creek Road, Norfolk, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Riddick Funeral Service is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
