JOHN E. POTTS

Retired Senior Chief John E. Potts, USN, 52, died Feb. 1, 1997 in a local hospital.

Born in Chicago, he retired from the Navy after 24 1/2 years and was employed with Atlantic Ordnance and Gyro Co.

Survivors include his wife, Jo-Ann Potts; two daughters, Susan McDade of Turlock, Calif. and Mona Price of Leasburg, N.C.; two sons, William Potts of Virginia Beach and Frank McDade of Austin, Texas; a brother, Jimmy Joe Potts of Pontiac, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Father Timothy Drake. Burial will be at sea. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 3314 Sandra Lane, Virginia Beach, Va. 23464.
