Gertie Mercile Wilson of the 4100 block of Williamson St. died Jan. 31, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
A Norfolk County native, Mrs. Wilson was a member of New Galilee Baptist Church, Chesapeake, the Missionary Circle and Deaconess Board.
Survivors include her husband, John Wilson Sr.; daughter, Elaine Lewis of Richmond; stepdaughter, Ruth Boyd of Chesapeake; son, John Wilson Jr. of Chesapeake; two brothers, Lee E. Brown Sr. and Robert W. Brown Sr. of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in New Galilee Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Anderson Foreman. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will be at 4142 Williamson St., Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
