CHARLES JACK HOWARD

Charles Jackson ``Jack'' Howard, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, in Birmingham, Ala., after a long illness.

He was a resident of Norfolk, where he was active with the Virginia Opera and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension. He was retired from the Newport News Public School System.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Dillon Howard; and is survived by two sons, Aldon S. Howard and Charles D. Howard; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Church of the Ascension, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church of the Ascension Building Fund, 405 Talbot Hall Road, Norfolk, Va. 23505.
