Hubert Woodrow Russell, 80, of the 3600 block of Pine Road, died Feb. 2, 1997, in a local nursing home.
Mr. Russell was a retired programmer from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was the widower of Charlsie Margaret Russell and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a Portsmouth native and a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include his son, Frederick L. Russell of Richmond; sister, Virginia Weatherbee of South Hill, Va.; brother, Marvin J. Russell of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Travis Lee Russell and Amy Leigh Russell.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997, in Aldersgate United Methodist Church by the Revs. Robert F. Cofield Jr. and Scott M. Rimer. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge. Visitation will be there from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
