A baby was born, given up and eventually came to live with a loving couple in Chesapeake. Now the birth mother has regrets and wants to do ``the right thing.'' Actually, from reading the article ``Whose baby is she now?'' (Jan. 22 ), it appears that the grandparents are planning to adopt the baby.
When is this going to stop? Almost weekly I hear on TV or read in the newspaper about a birth mother or natural father giving up their child and then having second thoughts after their child has been placed in a loving home. These poor children are physically ripped from the arms of the families that have loved them and cared for them to go back to the parent or parents who gave them up. Is this justice? I think not.
Thank you, Judge Eileen Olds, for giving legal custody of this child to the family that has loved her and cared for her for a year. This is where the child belongs.
