ELSIE D. ROSE

Elsie Duck Rose, 91, of the 200 block of Lumar Road died Monday Feb. 3, 1997 in Riverside Convalescent Center.

She was a native of Isle of Wight County and had been a resident of Smithfield since 1929. Mrs. Rose was a retired Smithfield merchant. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Susannah Wesley Bible Class and United Methodist Women. Mrs. Rose was a charter member and past Noble Grand of Smithfield Rebekah Lodge No. 61. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Rose Sr.

Survivors include a son, Charles H. Rose Jr., and his wife, Lynn K. Rose, of Suffolk; two grandsons, Russell B. Rose, and his wife, Anne M. Rose, of Suffolk and John R. Rose of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, by the Rev. Webster Maughan and the Rev. Robert Cofield. Burial will follow in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home and suggests memorial contributions may be made to Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 117, Smithfield, Va. 23431, or Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department, 5960 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, Va. 23432.
