Willie Mae Griffin, 86, of the 400 block of Waters Road, died Feb. 3, 1997, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
Born in Norfolk County, she was the widow of George D. Griffin. She was a member and former usher of Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Maude Armstrong Chapter No. 190, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Esther G. Faison and husband, Curtis Faison Sr. of Portsmouth, Garcia Ortiz and husband, Victor Ortiz of Virginia Beach; a son, James Knight of Chesapeake; a sister, Odell Mundy of Chesapeake; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. K.W. Brown. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at noon today in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Esther G. Faison, 743 Dunedin Road, Apt. D, Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the procession to the church.
