Lt. Steven Wayne Gray Sr., 42, of 2013 Kings Fork Road, died Feb. 3, 1997.
A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late Jean Phelps and Lloyd H. Gray Sr. Since 1974, Lt. Steven W. Gray Sr. has been with the Suffolk Fire Department and for the past 10 years, he has owned and operated Gray's Painting and Wallpapering Co. He was a member of Suffolk Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Kennedy Gray; a son, Steven W. Gray Jr., of Suffolk; a brother, Lloyd H. Gray Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Suffolk; father-in-law, Grover Kennedy, of Suffolk; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holly Lawn Cemetery by Minister Billy Ray Boyd. The family will be at the residence, 2013 Kings Fork Road. Memorial donations may be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439. R.W. Baker and Co. Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
