MAN ARRESTED IN CHAMBER OFFICE BREAK-IN

Richard Tamlin, 33, of the 100 block of Carver St., has been arrested for the breaking and entering of the Elizabeth City Chamber of Commerce office on Jan. 24.

Tamlin was taken into custody without incident after detectives received information that employees of a convenience store had purchased items from Tamlin that had been taken in the burglary.

The convenience store employees returned the items they had purchased and they were able to identify Tamlin as the one who had sold them the property, Elizabeth City police said.

Tamlin was charged with breaking and entering and larceny and placed in the Albemarle District Jail under an $8,000 secured bond.

According to the Elizabeth City Police Department, a search of Tamlin's residence resulted in the discovery of evidence that may lead to the solution of other break-ins.
