Police have arrested a 16-year-old girl and charged her with possession of 8.5 grams of crack cocaine with intent to sell, Chief Michael Lloyd reported Tuesday.
Officers seized approximately $600 in cash when they arrested Lakesha Renee Harris, of the 500 block of South Road St. on Saturday. The crack had a street value of $1,600. Harris is in the Albemarle District Jail under $3,000 secured bond.
In a separate incident, police arrested two men Saturday after a routine traffic stop when officers found 29.5 grams of crack cocaine on them, Lloyd said.
Garland L. Hinton, 46, of the 400 block of East Burgess St., and Demetrie L. Gibbs, 35, of the 100 block of Roanoke Ave., were charged with trafficking in cocaine and put in Albemarle District Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. Officers also seized a 1991 Honda Accord, $800 in cash and a small amount of marijuana. The cocaine had a street value of $5,900.
After investigating further, police also arrested Leslie Owen Ferebee, 33, of the 1400 block of Millpond Road, and charged him with possession of four grams of cocaine with a street value of $400. Ferebee was put in the Albemarle District Jail under $4,000 bond.
