Lenore Paine ``Nicki'' Lavery, 83, of Seagate Colony, died Feb. 1, 1997 in United Hospital, Port Chester, N.Y., after a sudden illness.
Born May 25, 1913, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Nellie Glass Paine and Logan Stillwell Paine.
Mrs. Lavery was a graduate of the University of California at Berkley, where she earned bachelor's and master's degrees. She was a lifelong educator, having taught and held administrative positions in the California and Maryland school systems.
She is survived by her husband, Capt. Richard John Lavery, U.S.N., retired, of Long Beach, Calif., two daughters, Valerie Lavery O'Regan of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Paige Reeves Titterton of Rye, N.Y., four granddaughters, Tracie Wallace, Stephanie Byers, Dana Reeves and Amy McNutt; a great-granddaughter, Holly McNutt; and three stepchildren, Valerie Sadd, Richard John Lavery III and Daniel Lavery.
A memorial service will be held in May in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association or to a charity of choice.
