Mary Jane Bliley Pokorski, 71, of Virginia Beach, died Feb. 4, 1997, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mrs. Pokorski was a native of Richmond and had been a resident of Virginia Beach for numerous years. She was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Virginia Beach. Mrs. Pokorski was a member of the Junior Women's Club and Little Theatre of Virginia Beach. During the war years, she was a USO hostess in Virginia Beach. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Leo E. Bliley Sr. and Catharine Wirtner; a stepmother, Grace R. Bliley, and a brother, Leo Bliley Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Paul J. Pokorski Sr.; a son and his wife, Paul J. Pokorski Jr. and Ann; a daughter, Anna Catharine Mauch, all of Virginia Beach; two brothers, John B. Bliley and Trudy of Virginia Beach, Henry D. Bliley of Reston, Va.; a sister, Margaret P. Davis of Virginia Beach; a sister-in-law, Sally Bliley of Edenburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Victor P. Pokorski, Stephen R. Pokorski, David Scott Mauch, Michael Christopher Mauch; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Star of the Sea Catholic Church by Father James Dorson and Father James Kauffmann. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. There will be a Christian wake service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. today with visitation following until 9 p.m. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society.
