William Henry Tynes, 80, died Feb. 4, 1997, in a local hospital.
Mr. Tynes was a native of Norfolk. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norfolk and was a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Thornton Tynes of Norfolk; his son, Dr. William V. Tynes, and his wife, Margaret G. Tynes, and their children, Jane, Catherine, Hunter and William Tynes III; his daughter, Dr. Patricia T. Tompkins, and her husband, Dr. Stanley P. Tompkins, and their children, Courtney and Brooke Tompkins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Richard Reid. The family suggests any memorial donations be made to the National Stroke Association. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
