Manteo High School wide receiver Danny Davis made good on his

preseason promise Wednesday, signing a national letter of intent to

play for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Davis

suffered through an injury-plagued senior year, but as a junior, he

ran and caught his way to 1,900 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns.

Davis committed to the Tar Heels last July after being recruited by

East Carolina, North Carolina State, the University of Alabama and

others. The 6-foot, 185-pound Davis is the son of Dan and Nina

Davis.
