I feel sure that I speak for many television viewers when I ask: Why do TV commercials and other ``information'' spots have such loud and nerve-jangling background ``music''? It all but drowns out the already screaming speaker.
If it is intended to get my attention, it does. I push the mute button on my remote, which I seem to use more than any other button.
