Napoleon Edgerton, 88, of Route 8, formerly of Burson Drive, Chesapeake, died Feb. 5, 1997.
Mr. Edgerton was born in Louisburg and retired in 1963 after 27 years of service as a tool room mechanic for Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth. He was a member of Trinity Church (NU)1 in Portsmouth. He was the former pastor for Holy Trinity Church in Franklinton and also former pastor of Holy Trinity Church No. 1. He was a member of Governing and Council Board of Federation of Holy Trinity Churches, Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Edgerton.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth L. Edgerton of Louisburg and Elder William M. Perry Sr. of Portsmouth; two sisters, Mary Lee Williams of Portsmouth and Clarine Edgerton of New Jersey; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Christian wake will be held at Richardson's Funeral Home, Louisburg, N.C., from 7 to 8 p.m. today. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Church No. 1, Portsmouth, by Elder Elvin Brown. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth.
