LEO C. IRELAND

Leo Casper Ireland, 71, of the Lake Landing Community, Route 1, died Wednesday Feb. 5, 1997, at Pungo District Hospital, Belhaven.

Born in Pamlico County on May 20, 1925, he was the son of the late William and Bertha Clark Ireland. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army and spent most of his working years as a commercial fisherman and was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, Lake Landing.

Surviving are his wife, Sharlot King Ireland; stepson, James Florant of Merritt Island, Fla.; two brothers, Archie Ireland of Lowland and Guy Ireland of Norfolk; and two step-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in St. George's Episcopal Church Cemetery. The Rev. Al Mackinsey, priest, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the home, Lake Landing. Memorials may be directed to St. George's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 101, Engelhard, N.C. 27824. Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter, is in charge.
