To teach is to touch a life forever.
A recent headline said, ``Teachers demand respect.'' I remember the many women teachers in the public schools. First in Leesburg, Va., Rockville, Md., Falls Church, Va., and one year in Georgetown, D.C., then in Covington, Va., then in Marlinton, W.Va. In one fourth grade, a student threw up and the teacher got down on the floor and cleaned up. Her father was a prominent lawyer.
I felt blessed by having so many dedicated women teachers.
