HELEN N. POWELL

Helen Gwaltney Norfleet Powell, 78, of Old Donation Apartments, died Feb. 7, 1997, in a local hospital.

A manager of the Admiralty Motor Hotel, she retired in 1989.

She is survived by her children, James M. Powell Jr., Helen Sue Powell Williams and husband, Martin B. Williams Jr.; five grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. Before her death, Mrs. Powell requested that the following message be delivered:

``To my personal friends and family, you know how much I love you and how fortunate and grateful I was to have each and every one of you in my life. It was an honor to have known you.''

Because of the love she had for people, Mrs. Powell dedicated her remains to medical science.

The family requests no flowers. If you wish, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the small chapel of Eastern Shore Chapel, 2020 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach.
