Local police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases: NORFOLK

On Jan. 28 and again on Feb. 3, customers using the ATM at the Navy Federal Credit Union in the 1500 block of International Blvd. were robbed.

In each case, two men approached customers in their cars just after 9 p.m. They pointed a rifle at the victims and demanded money, forcing the customers to make withdrawals from the ATM.

The first suspect is described as black, in his early 20s and about 6 feet tall.

The second is described as black and slightly shorter. PORTSMOUTH

On Jan. 18, about 3:30 p.m., Ernest Maddrey Jr., 73, was found dead in a pool of blood in his home at the 240O block of Staunton Ave.

Police believe robbery may have been the motive for the slaying. The cause of death is not being released for investigative reasons.

Investigators are looking for information on the victim's whereabouts before the slaying.

On July 28, 1991, a 22-year-old man was shot and killed while driving his light blue Chevrolet van eastbound in the 800 block of Portsmouth Blvd.

When James Corey Faucette reached the intersection of Effingham Street, a gunshot was heard and Faucette was struck in the head. Two vehicles were seen leaving the area, but witnesses could not provide descriptions.

Investigators hope that, after more than five years, someone may now be willing to come forward and provide information. VIRGINIA BEACH

On Nov. 17, about 5 p.m., two people were hurt in a hit-and-run.

The accident happened as a motorcycle was traveling south on General Booth Boulevard. At the intersection with Oceana Boulevard, a car made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, which was unable to avoid hitting the car.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered internal injuries and the passenger suffered a compound fracture of her arm.

The car was a late model, dark maroon, Dodge Intrepid which should have damage on the right, rear side. There were three black men in it. CHESAPEAKE

On Jan. 2, the Twin-B Auto Parts store in the 1300 block of Poindexter St. was robbed and an employee was beaten.

Just before 7 p.m., three men entered the store and one pulled out a large kitchen knife. He placed the knife to an employee's throat and forced the employee into a storage room. The employee was pushed to the floor and kicked repeatedly.

The suspects then took cash from the store register and the employee's wallet.
