A 59-year- old man was killed early Saturday after he apparently lost control of his car and it hit trees and a light pole.
Police said Nelson L. Gladfelter of the 4900 block of Blackfoot Crescent was pinned in the wreckage for 45 minutes. He was pronounced deadat the scene.
The accident happened at 12:18 a.m. in the 1900 block of South Independence Blvd, near Green Run High School.
Police said the 1965 Ford Mustang Gladfelter was driving was northbound when it ran off the road and hit two trees and a pole in the median.
Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and Gladfelter was wearing a seatbelt, police said. Investigators believe fatigue or a medical condition may have contributed to the accident.
