Performing at piano bars here for the past decade, I do various state songs for the locals and tourists. Most people are confused when I play ``Carry Me Back To Old Virginny.'' Most have never heard it in their lives.
I immediately segue into ``Shenandoah'' and get a consistently positive reaction; eveyone loves it and feels that it is the hands-down choice for our state song.
I get misty-eyed myself just playing it.
I am a Virginia native. ``Shenandoah'' gets my vote.
