Edward Douglas Pierce, 63, died Friday Feb. 7, 1997, in Pheobe Putney Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1933, in South Norfolk, he was a Christian and a computer technician at Marine Base, Albany. He was a Mason and Shriner. Mr. Pierce was the son of the late Leone Floyd Pierce and Edward Paul Pierce.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise Mott Pierce; sons, David Pierce, Kevin Pierce Sr., both of Doerun, Damien Pierce of Moultrie; four daughters, Desiree P. Cook of Ashburn, Ga., Darlene P. Cox, Deirdre P. Allen, both of Moultrie, Doreen P. Howard of Bristol, Tenn.; brothers, Darvin Pierce of Chesapeake, Darrell Pierce of Lake Worth, Fla.; and 21 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
A funeral was held Feb. 9 in Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, Moultrie, by the Rev. Brad Fussell. Burial was in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers were his grandsons, Frank Pierce, Joey Cox, Cary Pierce, Jason Cox, Kevin Pierce Jr. and Justin Cook.
The family will be staying at the home of Kevin Pierce, 711 Marlin St., Doerun. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
