Retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Timothy S. Vogt, 72, passed way Monday morning Feb. 10, 1997, at the West Palm Beach Veteran's Administration Medical Center after a brief illness.
Col. Vogt was born Nov. 26, 1924 in Quantico, Va., son of the late USMC Maj. Brady Luther Vogt and Ann Marie Smith. Educated in Norfolk, he was a resident of the Palm Beach area since 1970, coming from Winter Haven, Fla. During World War II, he served in Guam and the Western Caroline Islands. During the Korean Conflict, he was with the First Marine Brigade. During the Vietnam War, he entered with the initial Marine Corps 3rd Marine Amphibious Force in April of 1965. Col. Vogt was awarded many citations and medals for his service during his military career; these include the Navy Presidential Unit Citation with three stars, the Army Presidential Unit Citation with two stars, the Navy Unit Commendation Medal with one star, the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal with two stars, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Army of Occupation Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with one star. Col. Vogt was preceded in death by his first wife, Lera L. Conlin Vogt of Winter Haven in 1981.
Col. Vogt leaves to cherish his loving memory his beloved wife, Nancy L. Reed Vogt; children, Timothy S. Vogt of Tampa, Patricia Kelly of Havelock, N.C., Kathleen Carravine of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, John Brady Vogt of Lake Park, Fla.; stepdaughter, Lindsey Brooke Hessa of Richmond; brothers, Brandy Vogt of Fort Myers, Fla., Patrick Vogt of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Hazel Cardany of Silver Springs, Md.; and his adored six grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 at Thomas L. Price Funeral Home, North Palm Beach, where a Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Fort Myer Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., with interment to follow the cemetery.
