Federal Magistrate Judge Tommy E. Miller received the highest possible endorsement Monday from the Virginia Women Attorneys Association in his quest to become a federal judge in Norfolk.
The association endorsed Miller as ``highly recommended.'' It endorsed four others as ``recommended'': Magistrate Judge James E. Bradberry of Newport News' federal court, Judge Johnny E. Morrison of Portsmouth Circuit Court, and Judges Jerome B. Friedman and Alan E. Rosenblatt, both of Virginia Beach Circuit Court.
This is Miller's second endorsement. Last month, he was endorsed as ``highly qualified'' by the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association, as were Friedman and Norfolk lawyer Conrad M. Shumadine. Also last month, the Portsmouth Bar Association endorsed Morrison.
The federal judgeship came open last year when Judge Robert Doumar took ``senior status,'' a form of semi-retirement. President Clinton will name his replacement. Sen. Charles Robb is expected to recommend a candidate to Clinton later this month.
