Walter T. ``Plu'' Griffin, of the 4100 block of Williamson St. died Feb. 7, 1997, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Born in Norfolk County, Chesapeake, he was employed by the Chesapeake Service System as a maintenance worker until October of 1990 and as a member of the mobile worker crew until 1995. He was a member of New Mount Olive AME Church, Chesapeake, serving on the usher board and attending Sunday School every week. He also attended Carver School and Crestwood High School.
Survivors include his mother, Daisy E. Griffin of Chesapeake; a sister, Patricia G. Griffin of Norfolk, and a brother-in-law, James W. Griffin; a sister-in-law, Florence Louise Griffin of Portsmouth; an uncle, Johnnie Wilson of Chesapeake; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, William H. Griffin Sr. and a brother, William H. Griffin.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in New Mount Olive AME Church, 916 Middle St., Chesapeake, by the Rev. James Johnson. Burial was in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 4138 Williamson St. at noon today for the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
