ALLEN R. VICK

Allen Raye Vick, 72, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital after a lengthy illness.

A native of Kelford, N.C., he had resided in Hampton since 1951.

He retired from NASA in 1968 due to illness. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of N.C. State University with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He was a member of Hampton Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and was active in other church activities.

Mr. Vick is survived by his wife, Christine Riddick Vick; two daughters, Camelia Vick Everett of Hampton and Brenda Vick Doyle of Durham, N.C.; son, Michael Allen Vick of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Alicia E. Bowen of Laurel, Md., Krista E. Everett of Hampton, Patrick Ray Doyle and Mary Lynn Doyle, both of Durham, and Matthew Allen Vick of St. Louis; a great-granddaughter, Laura Frances Bowen of Laurel; his mother, Mrs. Ollie Vick; and sister, Mrs. Edith Farris, both of Vienna, Va.

An interment service will be held at the graveside at 1 p.m. Thursday in Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton, following which there will be a memorial service conducted by Dr. Chester L. Brown in Hampton Baptist Church at 2 p.m. After the memorial service, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mary Moore West Scholarship Fund at Hampton Baptist Church. Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Service, Hampton, is in charge.
