Vernon L. Pullig, 72, of the 2500 block of Meiggs Road died Feb. 10, 1997, in a local hospital.
A native of Saline, La., Mr. Pullig was an electrician foreman in Shop 51 at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a former member of Deep Creek Lions Club. He was founder of the Simonsdale Teen Club.
Survivors include his wife, Frances L. Pullig; two daughters, Joanne Hamn and her husband, Mike, of Littleton, N.C., and Peggy Pullig of Virginia Beach; son, Les Pullig of Virginia Beach; sister, Alice Faye Tynes of Natchitoches, La.; three brothers, Herschel Pullig of Natchitoches, Donnie Pullig of Villaplatte, La. and Terry Pullig of Alexandria, La.; two grandchildren, Lisa Shaw of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Kevin Jamerson of Littleton.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. Roscoe Musselwhite. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
