Rose Powell Cassell, 90, died Feb. 7, 1997.
A native of Norfolk, she was the wife of the late Walter C. Cassell and daughter of the late Elkanah Stroud Powell and Newman Bruce Powell. After attending Longwood College, she taught at Lafayette and Frances Willard Elementary Schools in Norfolk. She was a partner in the Shop for Town or Country. She was a member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Bruce Lunsford of Roanoke; and two grandchildren, Caroline Paige Ellett of Vail County and Watson Hillsman Ellett III of New York City.
A graveside service will be held in Forest Lawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Dr. Paul Bailey.
