CHARLES H. BROWN

Charles Henry Brown, 76, of the 5500 block of Weatherby Way, Deerfield, died Feb. 11, 1997, in his home.

Mr. Brown, a native of Clay, Ky., was retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief electronics technician after 20 years and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also retired as an electronics tech from the Naval Ammunition Depot, St. Julian's Creek and was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was currently working part-time as a bridge tender at the Kings Highway Bridge.

He was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, and was a member of Nansemond Masonic Lodge 77, Scottish Rite Bodies and Khedive Shrine. He was a life member of Portsmouth Elks Lodge 82.

Survivors include his wife, Ingeborg Olson Brown; a daughter, Chrystal Hahn, and her husband, David L. Hahn of Richmond; a son, Dale Wilkins of Hampton; two grandchildren, David W. Hahn, and his wife, Mamie, of Portsmouth, Stephen R. Hahn and his wife, Hope, of Chesterfield, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Bayse, Brandon Hahn and Kevin Hahn; a sister, Virginia Ray Brooks of Seebre, Ky.; and two brothers, James Robert Brown of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joe Wayne Brown of Mesquite, Texas.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew Lutheran Church by the Rev. William H. Battermann. Burial with military honors will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 4811 High St. W., Portsmouth, Va. 23703.
