Theodore Roosevelt Lowman, 76, died Feb. 10, 1997.
He was a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and also retired from the State of Virginia Health Department in the City of Norfolk Environmental Health Department. He was employed at the U.S Public Health Service as a quarantine inspector at the time of his death.
He was a native of Kibby, Ga., and was the widower of Jeanne T. Lowman. He was a member of Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 825th Tank Destroyer Battalion, Elks Lodge No. 2268, Virginia Beach. He attended Berry College and was a graduate of the University of Georgia.
Survivors include his daughter, Monique A. Lowman of Knotts Island, N.C.; and grandson, Joseph M. Lowman of Lexington, Va. He was predeceased by a son, John Bernard Lowman.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Little Creek Amphibious Base Chapel by Fr. Joseph Ceriello. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 9 a.m. today. The family will be in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, where a Christian Wake Service will be at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Berry College, 2277 Martha Berry Highway N.W., Rome, Ga. 30165-9987.
