Waverly Bailey, 85, of the 1000 block of Cherokee Road died Feb. 10, 1997, in his home.
A retired employee of Vico Construction Co. with 25 years service, Mr. Bailey was a native of Surry County, Va., and the widower of Vernice Bailey. He was a member of Philadelphia Church of Christ Disciples No. 2, Chesapeake.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandra D. Jones, Hazel L. Wright, both of Portsmouth, Diana D. Widodo of Richmond and Shirley E. Pinkney of Temple Hill, Md.; sister, Mary Borden of Hampton; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Philadelphia Church of Christ Disciples No. 2, Chesapeake, by Bishop James Farrow. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon Thursday. The body will be taken to the church at noon Friday.
