MELVIN BLAKE

Melvin Blake, 73, of the 1000 block of Sharon Drive died Feb. 11, 1997.

A retired prop mechanic at the the Naval Air Rework Facility, Mr. Blake was a native of Hyde County, N.C., and a member of Lindale Christian Church, Chesapeake. He was a member of Moose Lodge, Chesapeake Volunteer Fire Department and Parents Without Partners Club.

Survivors include former wife and friends, Fay King Kindley of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Janet Monola and Jeanie Mayes, both of Virginia Beach; three sons, Melvin Dale Blake of Harriman, Tenn., Howard J. Blake of Chesapeake and Brian K. Blake of Norfolk; sister, Addie Holloman of Chesapeake; two brothers, David Blake of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Travis E. Blake of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. David Vaughan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home and at the residence at all other times. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
