ESSIE L. NORMAN

Mrs. Essie Loan Norman, 69, of the 200 block of Spruill Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in her home.

A native of Washington County, Mrs. Norman was a daughter of the late Weston and Hester Craddock Spruill and the wife of the late Bennie Norman.

Mrs. Norman was a member of Scuppernong Church of Christ and had worked as a traveler changer with the Edenton Cotton Mill.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Mertz of Pearisburg, Va.; four sons, Charles Norman of Roper, Joe Norman of Edenton, Douglas Norman of Plymouth and Ted Norman of Roper; sister, Pauline Spruill of Roper; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Scuppernong Church of Christ by the Rev. Mark Woolard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in Evans Funeral Home, Edenton, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
