BUBBA HOUSE NO THREAT

As a real estate agent with 20 years' experience, I would like to take objection to the opposition of only a small sampling of the residents of Point-O-Woods to the proposed use of the ``Bubba House'' on the corner of Great Neck Road and West Plantation Road in Virginia Beach.

A house that is continuously rented is more apt to bring down the value of a neighborhood than the proposed humanitarian use for families visiting their seriously ill loved ones hospitalized at Virginia Beach General Hospital. It would not be a business - merely a temporary residence. I can't see much difference from having friends and family visiting in your own home.

If the residents are concerned about the appearance, why not let it be a project to see that the volunteers do keep up the appearance of the property? This could be a stipulation of the permit.

As far as parking is concerned, the number of cars could be limited, and surely a driveway could be enlarged in such a manner as to not make it detract from the neighborhood.

I suggest that opposing residents reconsider and instead offer their full support to this wonderful humanitarian project.
