ROGER R. HERRING

Roger R. Herring, 61, of the 1100 block of Reel St., died Feb. 12, 1997.

Born in Lenoir County, N.C., and retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years service, he was recently a federal firefighter for the Naval Air Station Fire Station (NU)2. He was president of HHH Hunt Club, Sussex County, Va.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Christine C. Herring; a daughter, Sharon J. Herring of Norfolk; two sons, Kenneth R. Herring and his wife, Kayla of Starks, La., Anthony H. Herring and his wife, Leslie of Norfolk; mother, Irene Skinner Herring; two sisters, Carolyn Radosevich of Fayetteville, N.C., Zodie Whitman of LaGrange, N.C.; a brother, Major J. Herring of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kandice, Amanda and Reid; eight nieces and nephews and nine great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by Chaplain Peter A. Oddo. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
