WAYLAND W. YODER JR.

Wayland Whitaker Yoder Jr., 84, died Feb. 11, 1997.

A native of Norfolk, he was retired from the U.S. civil service and worked at the Naval Supply Center for 25 years. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force based in India. He was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, member of the Fellowship Sunday School class and was active in the church for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Laurie Hewes Yoder; two sons, Wayland W. Yoder III and his wife, Janie of Portsmouth, John H. Yoder and his wife, Linda of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Rufus N. Yoder of Virginia Beach, and his sister, Louise Yoder Gomes of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Jocelyn Yoder of Roanoke, Danielle Yoder of Newport News, Christopher and Rebecca Yoder of Dayton.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Talbot Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Talbot Park Baptist Church, Norfolk.
