Two men were burned Friday morning when a kerosene heater apparently started a fire in their townhouse in Magic Hollow, a fire official said.
William Lawrence, 60, was in critical condition Friday in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, suffering second-degree burns on his arms, chest and back, said Mike Wade, Fire Department spokesman.
Lawrence's son, Keith, 25, was treated at the hospital for first- and second-degree burns on his neck and hands, then released.
Wade said the fire was reported about 6:20 a.m. in the 2900 block of Old Glory Road. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting from the home's garage, Wade said. The fire was controlled quickly.
Wade said the fire apparently started in a kerosene heater.
