TEACHER JOINS GOVERNOR

Carolyn Smith of Colerain Elementary School in Bertie County will be among 11 teachers from across the state to join Gov. James B. Hunt during his State of the State address on Tuesday.

Smith was the only teacher chosen from northeastern North Carolina. Hunt's speech before the General Assembly is expected to emphasize education, including salary increases and bonuses for the state's teachers.
