I sincerely enjoyed reading the Feb. 4 column by Elizabeth Simpson, ``Recent deaths make us realize we all are vulnerable.'' On this eve of Black History Month and the rebirth of our suffering, I was touched by Ms. Simpson's feel for the sameness that exists amongst parents of any persuasion. The fact that our children, black, white or other, are all vulnerable to the violence beyond our borders of protection is a message that should serve to rally us all to take a stand for children.
Like Ms. Simpson, I rant and rave about weapons control but find it harder each time there is a senseless death to go back to life as we know it, for I sense that life is quickly becoming a killing field for our children, if we don't take a stand.
