William Allen ``Catfish'' Doughty, 85, of the 200 block of Forest Pine Road died Feb. 15, 1997, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Doughty was born in Norfolk County, Va. and was the son of the late Leonidas and Estelle Copeland Doughty. He was a retired seafood dealer. He was a member and past deacon of the Hunterdale United Church of Christ and the Men's Layman's Fellowship. He was a member and past master of Masonic Lodge 151 AF&AM, Franklin and Charity Lodge No. 10, Knights of Pythias, Norfolk. Mr. Doughty, an avid golfer, was honored with a lifetime membership in Cypress Cove Country Club.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lorrie Carraway Doughty; daughter, Diane Doughty Tobin of Franklin; two grandchildren, Jennifer Joan Tobin of Albuquerque, N.M., and Matthew Allen Tobin of Fredericksburg; and several nieces. He was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Carlton, Cecil, Lonnie and Page Doughty.

The memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hunterdale United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Alan R. W. Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hunterdale United Church of Christ, 741 Hunterdale Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
