JEAN T. PETTIT

Jean Taylor Pettit, 86, of the Williams Home died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the widow of William James Pettit Jr.

Born in Lynchburg, July 24, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Robert Glen and Julia Johns Pettit. She was a homemaker, past president of the D.A.R. and a member of Lynchburg Poetry Club, Lynchburg Women's Club, Daughters of the American Colonists and St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by three sons, John Pettit of Concord, William Pettit of Jefferson, Md., and Peter Pettit of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Mrs. A.E. (Betty) Harvey of Reston, Va.; a brother, Richard Taylor of Charlotte, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Greg Pettit, John Pettit Jr., Philip Pettit, Eleanor Miller, Stephanie Pettit and Stacey Pettit.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Diuguid Rivermont Chapel by the Rev. Dr. William P. Parrish. Burial will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Those who wish to make memorials may consider the Williams Home.
