GREG C. PETACHENKO

Greg C. Petachenko, 58, of the 800 block of Mariposa Court, died Feb. 13, 1997.

Born in Detroit, Mich., he was a captain and founding investor of KIWI International Airlines and a former employee of Eastern Airlines for 25 years. He was a member of Unity Church of Tidewater, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam, a member of Bayside Masonic Lodge (NU)218, Scottish Rite Bodies, Khedive Shrine Temple. He was also an auxiliary policeman for the City of Virginia Beach for 12 years, a member of Tidewaters Gliders Association, and the Khedive Motor Corps. He loved motorcycle touring and was an avid skeet shooter.

Survivors include his wife, Nida P. Petachenko; stepdaughter, Ernestine Berry of Texas; two stepsons, Jeremy Beech and Matthew Beech; and a brother, Phillip Petachenko of Detroit.

A memorial service with Masonic rites will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Oasis Fund for Cancer Patients seeking alternative cancer treatment in the name of Greg C. Petachenko Trust Account, Bank of Tidewater, 713 Independence Blvd., Virginia Beach, Va. 23455.
