Nansemond River guard Antoine Willie, the two-time Group AA boys basketball player of the year who was dismissed from the team Monday, has been reinstated, Warriors coach Spencer Mayfield said.
Willie, a senior who scored an area-best 28.6 points per game, will return from what amounted to a two-game suspension, rejoining his team (14-5) Tuesday against Oscar Smith in the first round of the Southeastern District tournament.
``Every nook and cranny of the situation has been resolved to my satisfaction,'' Mayfield said. ``Everything is back as it was.''
Mayfield, who suspended Willie from the team for challenging authority and termed it one of the most difficult decisions he's made in 25 years of coaching, would not elaborate on the reasons for Willie's reinstatement.
Repeated attempts to reach Willie at his home were unsuccessful.
